Quadruped Character Trot Cycle

This is a completed 2D frame-by-frame trot cycle of my original feline character, Carter! The design was tweaked slightly so that coloring him wasn't so much of a chore (it still was), but I'm happy with the result.
Time spent: approx. 26

This is the final animation! The character that I used is a pre-designed character of mine, and his design had to go through many changes to be animation-friendly.

I started with the basic positions of a quadruped trotting, at first forgoing things like fur or tail.

Next, I added in-betweens and played with timing. Here, the animation is on ones. The tail went through many renditions; this is the first one.

Next, I added the fur and tail on their own layers; at this stage, all that was missing in-betweens was the cheek fur.

After I was satisfied with the in-betweens, I roughed out the whole thing on three layers; the body, the head fur, and the cheek fur. Once I finished with that, I went on to lineart and coloring!
